This is an awesome compilation that features unreleased tracks by some pretty solid producers (Quinten 909, Justin Faust, Phantom's Revenge, Free Magic...). Not only is the music great but all proceeds are donated to the Red Cross for their Japan Relief aid. A $5 minimum donation will get you these tracks which is well worth the money considering the quality of some of them. Good music for a good cause.

Star Slinger is super soothing, chopped up vocals over great beats and melodies. Kind've reminds me of Pogo's take on chopping Disney movies. And it might just be because it has 'walk

For some reason the only music I've been posting as of late has had some ties to Australia. Its a pure coincidence. Or its probably because that country has been pumping out some spectacular music in the past few years: The Presets, Cut Copy, Miami Horror, Midnight Juggernauts, DCUP, GLOVES, Das Moth, Damn Arms... to just name a few. Well, now you can add RÜFÜS to that illustrious list. RÜFÜS are three dudes from Sydney who have that unique Australian sound which I'm currently infatuated with.

Their tunes consist of a lo-fi groove generated by subtle beats, an alluring melody and dreamy vocals. Their vocals has a Presets sound to it especially when it reaches the falsetto like in Paris Collides (my fave). They recently released their first EP of their own label MONEKELEON but they have plans to release a club version of We Left with remixes from Go Go Bizkitt!, Brokeone, Symbolone, Beaumont, Springflower, Monseiur Adi, and Ride the Universe. A solid list of remixers so you know I'll be eagerly awaiting that release. Hopefully they'll release an album soon because I could use some more RÜFÜS in my life.

If you didn't know already, Joseph Mount and the gang are getting ready to debut their third album The English Riviera in April.

I can't fucking wait.

Especially when I read this quote from bassist Gbenga Adelekan:

"We've been recording a new album which is pretty much done. Some of it is like Daft Punk meets the Eagles if you can believe that. Some of it is even weirder, more electronic. Some of it is almost like stuff from the first Metronomy album, very weird electronica. And then there's some really cool pop music on there as well. We've gotten a really good response to the new songs we've played. It's going to be a lot of fun to play live."

Daft Punk meets The Eagles? I'm down. Until then, check out the video for their first single "She Wants" directed by Jul and Mat. It's a brilliant piece of work, showcasing the french duos creative expertise in motion design and special effects. Oh, and the song? It's got that very distinct Metronomy sound but with a more composed and relaxed vibe that I can't get out of my head.

Volcano children, allow me to introduce Amtrac, a 23 year old Kentucky native who cannot be relegated to a single genre. His tracks feature influence from all sorts of music, from nu-disco to synth pop, from electro house to dubstep, from breath takers to straight rump shakers. He released an EP entitled WHY and it definitely demonstrates his versatility as an artist, but the question remains which genre path will he actually follow? Or will he do the Diplo thing and just produce whatever he feels like?

I did a post a bit ago on Das Moth formerly of Damn Arms. Great tunes. Well since the falling out of the band, another member by the name of GLOVES has been making a whole lotta noise with his own productions. His most recent remix is of Bag Raiders' Sunlight. Probably my favorite of his many remixes. Soft, smooth house music that'll have you dancing uncontrollably in the sunlight. We all procrastinate. Particularly me when it comes to most things but I finally overcame my bad habits to share with you a musical duo who make disco sound oh so wonderful . Hailing from Sweden, Drop Out Orchestra has mastered the art of disco.

When listening to their music, you'll notice an emphasis on a powerful bassline that you can't help but move your body too. The reason being is that not only is the bassline an important aspect to their music if not THE most important part but it's also a feature in their live sets. They combine a live bass guitar and sometimes drums with their own DJ set which makes for an amazing and unique experience. I could go into how individually awesome each one of these tracks I've provided below are but the music speaks for itself. Ed Banger All Stars

Consisting of So-Me, Breakbot and Busy P, I give you Ed Banger All Stars. These three frenchies worked their magic on MGMT's epic Siberian Breaks track by breaking the remix into 3 parts. So-Me's, Breakbot's and finally Busy P's take.

The remix begins with So-Me's rendition complete with a beautiful sounding classical piano. Soon soft a soft drum track will begin in distant background which foreshadows the best part of the whole remix. Yup, the Breakbot part. There isn't much to say only that Breakbot is the fucking man. Violins, chimes, a slight cowbell, and that classic Breakbot bassline are the reason this is one of my favorite remixes right now. Busy P's part of the remix lives up to the Ed Banger name by steering towards a progressive electro arrangement but unfortunately it isn't too pleasing to my ears. Sorry Pedro.

The remix below just includes the first two parts of the song not only because I don't like the Busy P part but because it was the only free download I could find!

Duck Sauce remix of Hot Mess

Sibling rivalry is as old as time itself. Since that fateful day Cain slew Abel, brother has been pitted against brother for glory, girls, and recognition from Dad. Normally, sibling rivalry produces stuff like the deletion of your brother's save file on Zelda: Ocarina of Time or La Toya Jackson's solo albums, but it is not so for the Brothers Macklovitch. You see, elder brother David and younger brother Alain, better known as Dave-1 of Chromeo and A-Trak, respectively, recognize that their bond as brothers and common ground as musicians exceeds petty rivalries. Duck Sauce, A-Trak's partnership with Armand van Helden, has remixed Chromeo's song Hot Mess off of last year's album Business Casual, with the resulting jam being a powerful reminder of the greatness that comes from bros bein' bros to their bros. Also, its their first remix as Duck Sauce.

The song employs the voice of Ellie Jackson -- the singing, dancing, pretty-looking half of La Roux. Imagine, if you will, a Batman movie with Ms. Jackson starring as Robin, trying to solve the murder of her lover Batman. She looks exactly like Frank Miller imagined her in The Dark Knight Returns.

I mean, is that perfect or what?

As for the rest of the cast, Dave 1 creeps us out as a sweet talking Joker, and A-Trak's scratching abilities means he gets to keep his leather jackets as the ebon-clad gender-flipped Cat Man. Armand Van Helden would be perfect as the elegant immortal Ra's al Ghul and P-Thugg is Two-Face, with the deformed half of his grisly visage permanently grimacing on a talkbox tube. The Duck Sauce duck is retrofitted to be the Penguin. Robin's motorcycle is a TRON lightcycle, and Gotham itself has the neon slums of 1997's Batman and Robin explode and highlight the gargoyle skyline of 1992's Batman Returns. Duck Sauce's remix of of Chromeo's "Hot Mess" is the end credits to this movie.

Oh, and on the movie's pinball machine, this song plays on repeat. I think the brothers should actually make a real pinball machine just based on this hypothetical film. That way, if they ever get tired of collaborating on their awesome music, they can go back to the good ol' days of playing against each other for the high score in a video game.

First of all, Trimet announced every MAX line in the city is running until 3 AM, and all transportation is free after 8pm. So... Party Bus for everybody! Wahoo! If you don't make it to any of these other fun things, at least you can bring a flask onto the bus and hobnob with your fellow Volcano Citizens all night.

Pegasus Dream needs your help!

Portland electro rock band Pegasus Dream needs your help to keep rocking. The band's customized Roland Juno G keyboard was recently thieved from their car, which superbly sucks because they not only can't play concerts until its replaced but they can't get cracking on any new recordings. Luckily they've entered themselves into this Kickstarter contest where combatants raise $2000 - but if they don't make it, they receive nothing. Kind of harsh, but they need the funds for a replacement keyboard, which is one third of their music. Also they want to introduce a sure to be stunning visual element to their live shows.

PegDre puts on an awesome live show and is made up of three genuinely talented musicians...but more than that, they are some chill ass dudes who need a helping hand.

You can donate to them here at the Kickstarter site in any increment you wish. They are at $785 currently and need to make their goal of $2000 by January 17, which is less than a month away! Remember, they get nothing if they don't make it to $2000. $5-50 donations get you a smattering of their awesome merchandise -- their first album Painting Pantheons, stickers, shirts, et cetera -- all of which are extremely viable Christmas presents for the music lover in your life. Family of the Year - LA residents, Edward Sharpe tour alums, self-proclaimed social network creeps. If you're a fan of sounds like ole Eddy Sharpe or Local Natives, then you'll most likely enjoy these two little ditties. Clive Tanaka from Clive Tanaka y su Orquesta was a Japanese teenage shut-in in the 1990s. One day his sister dropped off a shoebox full of her old cassettes outside of his room and Clive yielded his innate shyness in favor for these newfound curiosities and has been into music ever since.

His album Jet Set Siempre No. 1 is quintessential dreampop, so far released only by his label Tall Corn on cassette. Side A's music - For Dance - is upbeat, yet soft melodies still abound with tropical drums and cymbals. Despite the playful nature of this half of the album, his shyness peeks through again and again by his repeated use of different computerizations of his voice. The instrumental tracks of side B - For Romance - take it down a notch and sound like a washed-out Royksopp. Its like falling asleep on the beach.

It's Sunday. Time to listen to something blissful.

Some may slap the chillwave moniker on this music, I dono what you technically will call it, but who cares.
Little Loud. He makes some fantastic remixes (I hope this isn't one of those times I refer to the band as 'he' then it's not just one person. Fingers crossed).
He's from the UK, makes self-described "New Wave/Psychedelic" music. I first heard his work on the Health remix album, where he turned Nice Girls into my favorite euphoric audio experience of the summer. The reworks of these other songs are equally as good - they're full, all encompassing, happy, danceable (?), and mellow.

Health - Nice Girls (Little Loud Remix) (Great song, but at 2:50 really takes off. That minute and a half of song is one of my favorite of 2010).

Upon looking at these songs, I know you may ask "But Volcano City, what's with these Taio Cruz's and Black Eyed Peas? And mashups? Still?

Well, you know, sometimes, some people just want some top 40. And that's fine and all, but here we get a happy medium. And these aren't yer run of the mill mashups either. Kaskade's and Swedish House Mafia's sounds intertwine perfectly, and the fellows responsible for the top 40 mashes aren't just slapping some rap over some indie. They completely integrate the songs and take them to next-level-banger-status. So when some lady saunters up and asks you to play something recognizable, you can deliver.

The Gertrudes are what happen when the band geeks grow up. The Canadian 9 member group is a down-home amalgam between Passion Pit, Wolf Parade and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros minus the cult of personality. Self-proclaimed pioneers of "nerdgrass," the Gertrudes are what happens when you want to start a band and you have eight friends who are amazing musicians crashing at your place already.

This song, "Wind from the South", along with the rest of their debut album is a love letter to the Gertrudes' hometown of Kingston, Ontario. Even though the song's lyrics are referencing their own crossstreets and familiar places, "Wind from the South" evokes your own brand of nostalgia, wherever your hometown may be.

Only recently have I discovered the immense talent that this mysterious Dutch producer, Shook, possesses. His weapon is a synth and his strategy is to enrich your ears with as much electro funk as possible. It was only about a month ago that I heard his remix of Phoenix's Lisztomania and to be honest, it's probably my favorite remix I've heard to date. And I've heard A LOT. Who can say no to that funky piano? Or a that bass line in Jupiter's CHiP? This Dutchman is all class. His original productions are impressive as well. Picture Moment sounds like something out of Röyksopp's Melody A.M. album with a touch of Daft Punk's Nightvision. Postive and Focused Records recently released Shook's debut EP entitled The Glow. Get it (here) while it's hot as there are only a limited number of copies. Oh, and its also available on RED vinyl!

The Portland Music Awards are gearing up to take the city by storm. I first learned about this courtesy of the h8rs over at The Portland Mercury who said people should boycott this prestigious award show. FUCK THAT. There is a tentative tracklisting up on Wikipedia, but if you're anything like me, you take a Girl Talk album song at a time and discover the samples for yourself. It seems he's continuing his tradition of succinctly dope album covers, samples everywhere from the last 50 years, and putting on jam-packed high energy live shows - he's touring this spring and will be playing his favorite Portland venue, The Roseland, on March 17th.

Trophy Wife

Trophy Wife is an up and coming Oxford group whose sound is most aptly described by the band's Myspace: "Ambitionless office disco/commuter pop." A new fixture on London label Moshi Moshi alongside the likes of Hot Chip and Lykke Li, Trophy Wife sounds somewhat like a mellower Two Door Cinema Club or a more intricate Whitest Boy Alive. TW relies on dry guitars, punchy upbeat drums, and what sounds like a string quartet to round out their sound. It's poppy but also contemplative, upbeat but sometimes lofi, altogether definitely worth a listen.

Their single is titled Microlite and it's fantastic. You can download it here but you should go buy the 7" for the full experience.

At least that's what Shae of N.E.R.D said about the recent mix released by the latest addition to their Star Trak Label, Mansions on the Moon. And I couldn't agree more. With players like Benzi and Diplo presenting the mix, it's almost a guaranteed good time. The mix, dubbed Paradise Falls, features the likes of Deadmau5, Washed Out, and Xaphoon Jones. It displays just how far their musical abilities can reach by mixing indie pop, trip-hop, and electro while you heedlessly float on cloud nine for 32 minutes.

If you haven't checked these dudes out before, the group has been around for about a year now and word on the street is they're going to be big. Currently, they're in Los Angeles working on a debut album with tour dates being announced sometime in early 2011. DCUP (aka that^ epic name) is undoubtedly my favorite Aussie producer at the moment. I have to admit I wasn't as intrigued by the Euro chart topper "We No Speak Americano" as most, but it did prompt me to look into his solo work and boy am I glad that I did. DCUP knows how to get people dancing, with bouncy basses and attack leads so characteristic of 1980s Brooklyn funk as well as modern Australian dance tunes, it's hard not to move to these songs.

This is a band from SF. The singer is reminiscent (to me) of Mobius Band, the music is poppy/fun/electronic and has been compared to Passion Pit or old MGMT.

But they are their own band and have their own sound, and I hold a firm belief that you will enjoy it. It is head-noddable.

Presale for Cirque Du Soleil's new "Immortal" Michael Jackson tribute show has begun. The awesomeness they did with the Beatles' LOVE show will almost certainly be rivaled.

A new album of Michael Jackson songs, entitled Michael, will be released on December 14th. Are we graverobbing at this point? Would Michael Jackson's ALIVE movie have been a success at all if he was still alive? Here's the cover:

So, Volcano Citizens, I propose a question to you: Does our culture excuse 'genius'? Michael Jackson may or may not have invited children to his home for merry-go-rounds, treeclimbing and fellatio. I personally doubt it because children are easily malleable and false memories can be incepted, but certainly the accusations plagued him for the rest of his days. Yet, people still bought his albums and went to see him live. I say the same of Roman Polanski, who was charged with the rape of a 13 year old girl but still enjoys the celebrity of such landmark award-winning films of Chinatown and The Pianist. And brilliant orator Glenn Beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990, but his talk show is first in the nation! Do we just glass over the horrible aspects of our most cherished minds? Or is it something that comes with or perhaps from the genius? Did Einstein eat his neighbors' cats? Did Leonardo masturbate to the Teletubbies, or would he if he were alive today? We live in a strange world, everybody. At least we have the beautiful music of Michael Jackson to keep us company.

Halloween is the weekend in Portland when all of the resident freaks get, well, freaky. It's an excuse to dress up, dance, have fun and go all out; and tonight there's a doozy of an event. Copy, Guidance Counselor and Pegasus Dream, will be throwing a Halloween party at the awesome new venue called The Waterheater. If you live in Portland, you shouldn't be anywhere other than here, if not, I'm sorry you're missing out on this. It's all ages, and there is a bar for those who are 21+. For everyone's enjoyment, I'm dishing out some tracks that only proves the talent and musicianship of these bands.

First up, we have a song off of Copy's immaculate new record Hard Dream. It's in the same spirit as his beats and keyboard driven music, but with a noticeable dark hue embedded in it. This song is called "I Didn't Know"

Word on the street is their light shows were designed by Fair Enough, the duo that created the awesome lightstage setup for Holy Fuck. Nosaj Thing's visuals are simple but immersive, employing everything from basic shapes and colors to full on 3D spectral whirlwinds.

I don't know how I feel about Toro Y Moi's live setup yet, the drummer seems to be fairly talented but the bassist sounds like he could use some practice (at least in the videos that I saw). Chaz' old Ableton Live plus Microkorg rig was great because everything sounded like the originals with him playing the leads live, but I am still excited to hear his work in a live scenario too. Truth is, it takes a lot of work to transform your personal, sample infused songs into a live show with band, but the concept is growing in popularity, from lofi acts such as Bonobo to hard hitters like the Bloody Beetroots (links demonstrate live setups).

My favorite Swede of all time Lykke Li is back with a vengeance. A super sexual vengeance. Her new single, Get Some, has the tiny nordic princess crooning and yelping over heartbeat drums as she tells you "I'm your prostitute, you gon get some." Fucking hot. Its as if "Dance Dance Dance" from Youth Novels has been away at an all girls boarding school for a year and is home, unsupervised, at her parent's place for the long weekend.

Get Some's B-Side, Paris Blue, is a forlorn track much akin to Time Flies and Melodies & Desires. The lyrics are seemingly an apology written to a man named Buddy Blue. With lyrics like "Buddy Blue, I miss you, I'm not good enough for you, Buddy Blue, I'm no good, I'm no good, I'm no good anymore." The two songs tell a story of Lykke Li gettin down on some other Swedish's meatballs and regretting it the next morning, trying to apologize to Buddy Blue, her boyfriend, ostensibly.

Here in Oregon it's time to put on our rain jackets and hunker down for a long drizzly winter. Gone are the days of tank tops and cutoffs, trips to Sauvie's Island and nights on Mt. Tabor. All is well though; I have brought respite from the gray in the form of Dirty Gold. A duo out of San Diego whose lazy sound and ambiguity begs a comparison to Beach House. They have only been around for a short while and seemed to be unsigned but with this caliber of talent I can't see that lasting long. Their Hidden Treasure EP drops in December and I expect it to make waves in the indie music community.

The Ting Tings are back with a brand new single, Hands. Its off their mysterious new album which has yet to be named or slated for release.

The original is an energetic 80s style club siren song. The lyric's subject (a girl bein' fed up with workin' too hard...at her job and her man!) and singer Katie White's multiplied vocals make you imagine a full girl ensemble.

Low Sunday has released a more disco'd up remix with an awesome buildup, expect to start whistling the melody constantly. Passion Pit plays out of character (unless you've been paying attention...) and drags the song down in the dirty grime with a heavy bass-filled dub version. They're all great remixes that make you eager for the album's release.

Die Antwoord last Thursday was honestly the best hip hop show I've been to. Ninja and Yo-Landi brought an unprecedented level of energy to the Crystal Ballroom. Ninja was leaping into the crowd, and although he missed a couple cues and started rapping at the wrong time, he was having a better time performing than a lot of other musicians I've seen recently. Yo-Landi won the heart of every man, woman and child with her pidgin english and half-shirt. The only critique was the show's duration -- about an hour, over by 11:30 and no encore. If they're rolling through your town, do not miss them!

Some are kind of frustrating to watch because I'm too excited watching them on stage to frame my camera correctly...but they're still great.

Osborne remixes Hot Chip

Hot Chip released a remix EP earlier this year that had four songs off One Life Stand remixed by various artists. Although it was exciting to hear some official Hot Chip remixes, most of them just passed off as decent (for me, at least). BUT Osborne's take on Take It In is anything but. It's a down-tempo remix that has a solid bass line and piano driving the whole song with the occasional synth echoing in the background. Osborne does a beautiful job steering away from the normal electronic sound that Hot Chip does so well.

If there was one defining trend that has come to characterize the music of this past summer, it is the rising prominence of DIY artists that have come to be lazily labeled as "chillwave." For every Neon Indian or Washed Out that hit it big, there are dozens of other equally talented producers that remain relatively undiscovered, who are unfairly bunched into this 'genre' of music. The reality of it is that they share as much in common with each other as Washed Out and Neon Indian do, which is to say, absolutely nothing; excepting the fact that they were discovered via internet, and that there is a 'home-studio' quality to their first discovered tracks. This makes it all the more exciting when the internet enables these unique and differing artists to collaborate with one another, whether they've ever actually met in person or not. In an effort to capture this excitement, Dead As Digital, Stadiums and Shines, and The Road Goes Even On, have assembled some of the finest of these musicians and released a cassette that features collaborations between these artists, which can be bought at weget.by (tip: There's only one cassette left.) El Ten Eleven touches down tonight.

Let me tell you a little bit about a band that's playing tonight at Mississippi Studios. El Ten Eleven is named after a big ass plane and they know how to fucking play. Today's post-rock genre is mostly ignored, with a large contingent of its inhabitants learning how to dance and getting into electro (ahem) but there are still some serious winners that are cropping up. Among them are El Ten Eleven, a band that has three albums already under their belt and are touring for the fourth, of which you can only buy at their shows until they officially release it on November 9th.

The first two albums I personally (maybe a little unfairly) lump together with the likes of Pinback. Its harmonic, melodic, chilled out music, made for harmoniously chilling out with a girl named Melody. But in 2008, they released These Promises Are Being Videotaped, a tightly produced gun to your head. The lead track, Jumping Frenchman of Maine, pulls back the hammer on you and makes you start dancing. Stockholm Syndrome kicks in at around two minutes. Now that they have your attention, they bring you one single notch lower to I Like Van Halen Because My Sister Says They Are Cool, another infectious dance rock track with piano crescendos, and god dammit this drummer is good. A return to form follows in Fat Gym Riot, a quieter track that features awesome bass. Adam And Nathan Totally Kick Ass (not their names, by the way) is a Ratatat-like rock and roll anthem with some super guitar slides.
The rest of the album is jam-packed with energy, including a cover of Radiohead's Paranoid Android which I cannot wait to hear live. The last two, Chino and Numb Tooth, are headbanging thrashers reminiscent of Death From Above 1979. Ah, the good old days. At only a half an hour long, These Promises begs an immediate replay.

So go and see them tonight, doors at 8:30, shows at 9, at Mississippi Studios. Baths is bringing the trip-hop vibe and Sister Crayon is bringing the art-rock California attitude. And its only ten bucks! And the Bar Bar, Mississippi's annexed bar, has the best hamburger I've ever had in my life. Its the Rhino BBQ Burger or something. Whichever one costs 6 bucks. They've got a comparable vegetarian version too. So go have dinner and then see a great show!

Next we have a bangin' Cosmonaut Gretchko remix of an awesome Japanese band that has been around for a decade: Capsule. It's amazing how good Japanese vocals sound over chillwave synths, it just sounds right.

Got a couple thick tracks for yall today. It's not easy to create layered soundscapes rich with white noise and reverberated synth blips, and its even harder to do so and maintain a sense of cohesiveness in such a track. The first song is a huge sounding remix of Delorean's "Real Love" by VC favorites LightsoverLA. The sense of space is created with generous but tasteful use of static noise and dreamy nature sounds. Definitely worth checking out.

The next track is a remix of Fenech-Soler's Lies by UK Dub/Electronica producer Doctor P. The beat is a bit dubby but contrary to the norm the rest of the song not only lacks wobble bass but also features a definitive melody. Very large and epic sounding, lots of noise. The original is worth checking out too.

This has been a wild summer, yeah? Well keep those cut-offs and tanks because this weekend its about to get a tad wilder. Think dj's, booze, bbq, sunshine and dancing. How are we gonna do this?

First step, for all of you who are lucky to be on the 21+ side, on Saturday, August 21st go to this. Flosstradamus will be gracing our city to bring magic and mayhem in the form of turntables. Our buddies Serious Business and a grip of other awesome acts such as Rude Dudes, Sistafist, Lionsden and Cory O will all be there as well. Oh yeah, Potato Champion will be slinging fries and there'll be a BBQ in the backyard of the Branx.

Sold Yet? Hold up, because there's more goodness to be had on Sunday, August 22nd. The Do-Over, the awesome backyard bbq dj event crew from Los Angeles will be putting on their second Portland installation. Its free, there'll be BBQ, booze and dancing. They also will have mystery guest dj's showing up. Who's it gonna be? In the past they've had luminaries such as Mary Anne Hobbs, A-Trak, Madlib, Jazzy Jeff and Flying Lotus show up to their LA events. So this is sure to be big.

Justin Bieber goes ambient and blows your mind.

I'm not going to take much time describing teen pop superstar Justin Bieber to you all because regardless of whether or not you enjoy his music, you've had to at least absorb a little of his pumpkin pie hair cut image by osmosis. Found by Usher on Youtube, he's currently filling the dreams & creaming the jeans of every tween across North America (and empyting their dad's wallets). Yeah, sure, whatever. That does not mean he is wholly without merit.

Soundcloud user Scamantis has taken Biebs' song "U Smile" and turned it into the ambient track of the year by slowing it down 800% while keeping the pitch intact. The result is a 35 minute long oceanic stargazing meditation that will give you chills of Icelandic proportions. The original's simple cymbals are liquified into the crashes of the sea while the shell of Bieb's trite promises of doin' wuteva his grl wants break away as the song leaps into serenity to reveal the forlorn callings of a much older, otherworldly soul.

I honestly want you to listen to the entire 35 minute track here below. Just lie down and put on your headphones and close your eyes.

New Cut Copy at Lollapalooza. Sheeeit.

So some of the Volcano City dudes are at lollapalooza right now. And they'll probably have their own videos of all the mediocre fun they're having there.

While we wait though, lets check out some videos of Cut Copy performing two songs from their coming album. And Hearts on Fire. I am totally not worried about their new cd not living up to the hype anymore.

The first vid is them performing Blink and You'll Miss the Revolution then switching it up to Hearts on Fire. This seems to quell any suspicions that their new cd was moving away from 80s electronic influences.

This is one of the catchiest songs I've heard in a while. The Count & Sinden have full album coming out later this month on Domino Records entitled Mega Mega Mega. I'm very excited for this one because if the whole album sounds like this song then the end of summer can't be all that bad.

Walter Sobcek is actually two cool dudes who hail from Germany and France (of course...). They have a grip of remixes out but their cover they did of Hall & Oates' She's Gone is amazing. It's a funky pop love song that when listening, transports you to a wonderful dream world that you wish you could bring someone special along with you. The video explains it all. We'll have more about these dudes when their EP drops next month.

Teen Daze for days

So after the shitshow that was last weekend, this here guy has needed some mellower music. Well while perusing hypem I ran across some more music by Teen Daze, a very mellow "chillwave" artist (I feel using that term is already looked down upon) with some fantastic remixes. As it turns out, Teen Daze has some great original material as well.

From what I can gather, its a guy from Vancouver who is quickly picking up some buzz. And for good reason. I hadn't heard a ONE remix that I was particularly fond of... but the energy that builds up into the swirling, ethereal climax is just nuts. I mean it really makes you want the beat to drop.

Sunday night kicked ass for two reasons

The first reason:

Luciano Oliveira from The Twelves, RAC, and Remy the Restless played consecutive DJ sets till 3AM at a Portland house party.

The second Reason:

The show happened to be at Volcano City's House.

I wish we had recorded the set itself because I would be listening to it right now. Luciano has a way of blending songs together with The Twelves' disco-infused beats which made it hard to stop dancing. This resulted in a sexy sweat lodge of a basement filled with sticky people, and yet somehow Luciano managed to stay cool and collected as he rounded out a 2 hour set at 3:15 in the AM. We already wish we could do last weekend just one more time. LUCIANNNNOOOOOOOO! Please come back and party with VC again soon!

Del ripped it down last night

The Rotture hosted a free hip hop concert last night with the highlight being Del The Funky Homosapien. He finally got on stage at around one oclock and seemed pretty messed up...but whatever. He closed the night out with the Gorillaz song "Clint Eastwood"...well, it was the beats and chorus of Clint Eastwood but Deltron thought it appropriate to ad-lib every verse. Pretty great stuff. The Twelves are almost here

We all know that the Brazil'z finest, The fucking Twelves will be tearing up the Whiskey Bar this weekend in Portland so to put all you fine Portlanders in the mood for it, here's a live set Luciano (1/2 of the Twelves) did over Valentines day earlier this year. They've done plenty of live mixes before but this one for me takes the cake. It's TWO HOURS LONG. A few good tracks to listen for are a Justin Timberlake remix, Hot Chip remix and of course a Radiohead remix. A few of us were lucky enough to see them last summer in Vancouver BC and it was the most fun I've ever had dancing at a show. Get fucking jacked people. This weekend is going to be EPIC!

Skream/La Roux collaboration

So by now, everyone's heard that Skream remix of La Roux's In for the Kill that everyone went kinda crazy for last year, maybe even on the La Roux/Major Lazer mixtape that was released in May.

Well it seems like it was so well received that La Roux went ahead and collaborated on a song on Skream's up and coming album Outside the Box. The track features some La Roux singing that sounds just a tad different than what we heard on her album. But its a great song that slowly builds into something that would be perfect in some sort of epic electro-desert montage.

I absolutely love this song. I had it on repeat for about an hour during my Fallout 3 binge gaming sesh yesterday which is strange looking back on it because it is a slow tempo love making tune that'll set the mood for any settting. The polar opposite of the type of video game Fallout is. Whatever, enough with the nerd talk and give the track a listen. You won't be disappointed. (But you never really are with our posts right? Hey guys. I figured out how to upload again. And now I bring to you some bangin' remixes.

The Dirty Tees are some Toronto natives with a story about how they made music separately and now make it together and attend University and overall seem like pretty cool dudes. Anywho, their music is kind of a blend of all sorts of electronic, very energetic, keeps you guessing where its gonna go next, and overall can get pretty chaotic (in a good way) sometimes. Mainly, it gets me pumped as shit. And look at how well they're dressed.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs remix hits real hard. All you dubstep haters give the Two Door Cinema Club a bit of time, the beginning may not be your thing but it REALLY grows. And I dono, listen to the Bulletproof remix cause its really good too.
